You couldn’t hold it against Rangers fans if they had forgotten about Jordan Rossiter.

The midfielder joined Rangers from Liverpool under Mark Warburton in 2016 and did so with a big reputation.

But Rossiter endured a horrific four-year spell on the Ibrox club’s books and only managed 10 Scottish Premiership outings due to injury.

That’s why you could forgive the Gers’ supporters if they had forgotten all about the lad.

But the good news is, Rossiter has been flourishing since leaving Glasgow.

He is now at Fleetwood Town and to put into context how severe his injury issues were, Rossiter has played the same amount of games in League One since August as he did in three seasons at Rangers – 10.

Last season, the Liverpudlian managed 35 league appearances – 30 of which were from the starting XI.

Gerrard a big fan

Apart from the player and his family, nobody will be happier than Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to see him enjoy an injury-free run of matches.

That’s because Gerrard came through the academy at Liverpool, just like Rossiter, and being a midfielder, the 41-year-old coach will have seen similarities with himself.

In fact, Gerrard, who also passionately defended the player in press conferences, claimed that Rossiter was ‘nearly as good at tackling as me!’ and went on to say that ‘he’s my style of player who’ll empty it for you‘.

It’ll have broken Gerrard’s heart to have to release him at Ibrox in 2020, but a new contract made no sense under the circumstances.

But Rossiter has bounced back in style since then and one can only hope that he continues to flourish in England.
