Dani Ceballos certainly turned his Arsenal career around in the final few months of last season.

The Spanish midfielder was instrumental in helping the Gunners to FA Cup glory, with Mikel Arteta’s side beating Chelsea in the final.

Not only did Ceballos shine against the Blues at Wembley earlier this month, perhaps even overshadowing two-goal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in terms of all-round performance, but the Real Madrid star also scored a last-minute winner at Sheffield United to set up a semi-final tie against Manchester City in June.

During Project Restart, Ceballos was consistently brilliant for the Emirates Stadium side and fans are calling for a permanent deal – and they might just be getting him back.

Sky Sports reported this week that Arteta is ‘intent’ on ensuring that Ceballos – whom the club paid a £15 million loan fee for last summer – returns to North London for the 2020-21 campaign.

And he might’ve just dropped a big hint in this regard.

Joe Willock celebrated his 21st birthday today and Ceballos posted an Instagram message to his former Arsenal team-mate.

In it, the Spaniard wished him happy birthday but also ended his message with a ‘see you soon’ which could be interpreted as a clue that he’s going back to London Colney for pre-season training.

There’s a lot of false hints flying around during the transfer window, when fans are ultra sensitive to the smallest of suggestions, sometimes putting two and two together to get five.

But after the Sky Sports report from this week, this one does have legs it seems.
