Leeds United fans have probably forgotten all about Yosuke Ideguchi.
The Japan international joined the Whites in a £500,000 deal in January of 2018 but left a year later without ever making an appearance for the Elland Road side.
With that in mind, and given that £500,000 wasn’t exactly pocket change for Leeds at the time, Ideguchi has to go down as one of the strangest signings of Victor Orta’s reign as Director of Football.
That being said, it looks like the 24-year-old is rebuilding his career.
Ideguchi, who has 15 caps for his country, is back with Gamba Osaka and looks to be impressing once again.
So far this season, Ideguchi, who had three loan spells away from West Yorkshire, has contributed to eight goals across all competitions – four goals and four assists – and it seems like he’s showing the sort of form that led to Leeds signing him in the first place.
Remember,he also played a huge role in helping Japan qualify for that World Cup, a tournament he wasn’t even selected for afterwards.
But there’s clearly a player in there somewhere and it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he winds up back in Europe at some point in the future.
