Speaking on Sky Sports, Tim Thornton has provided an update on Leeds United’s search for a new manager after it was reported that their move for Andoni Iraola has hit a speedbump.
The Whites were keen to appoint the Spaniard, but talks aren’t progressing quite how they would have liked, and now, they’re having to look at other options.
It was reported on Wednesday by Thornton that Leeds were not in fact looking at Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, despite rumours, but now, Thornton says that there has been a U-turn and that Slot is now a potential target for the Yorkshire club.

Slot now a target
The journalist shared what he knows about this situation.
“Leeds are also talking to other candidates. One interesting name we spoke about yesterday was Arne Slot. 24 hours ago we weren’t expecting him to be a potential head coach at Leeds United, but things are moving quickly and that situation could now change and he may be a potential target for Leeds. That is one to watch and it could develop,” Thornton said.
Doesn’t bode well
Arne Slot seems like a fantastic manager, but this doesn’t bode well for Leeds at all.
Indeed, if the Yorkshire club are making U-turns on their managerial targets within 24 hours, it begins to look like they don’t really have a clear idea on what they want to do next.
Slot was reportedly not a target this time yesterday, and now he’s a prime candidate. That just screams scattergun.
Leeds need to get their acts together here and figure out what type of manager they want to bring in rather than flip-flopping between candidates.
