Matias Zaracho has cast doubt on a potential move to Leeds United this summer, telling El Intransigente that he is in ‘no hurry’ to leave Racing Club.

Argentina’s biggest clubs giants are no strangers to losing their star players to the lure of European football but this summer is already shaping up to be an especially traumatic one for a number of South American powerhouses.

Gonzalo Montiel’s agent has frequently confirmed interest from West Ham in a rampaging River Plate right-back.

And, if El Intransigente is to be believed, Marcelo Bielsa has his beady eyes fixed firmly on a pair of talented young Argentine internationals.

River’s 2018 Copa Libertadores winner Lucas Martinez Quarta could replace Ben White at the heart of Bielsa’s backline while Zaracho, the £23 million-rated playmaker, could be heading to Elland Road too if Leeds are promoted to the Premier League.

But, at the age of just 22, Zaracho has plenty of time on his side.

And he is in no rush to turn his back on his boyhood club, even if the allure of Bielsa and the Premier League is undoubtedly tempting.

“I’m not in a hurry (to leave),” the once-capped Albiceleste starlet says. “I always meet fans on the street and they always give me good advice and I listen to it.

“I know the club like the back of my hand, from a very young age. That is what makes you very happy, when people love you and appreciate you.

“How the club has evolved is something incredible. There are more and more beautiful things. And I think that, both for us and for the fans, this makes us feel very proud of what Racing is.”

As director of football Victor Orta told the YEP, there is something distinctly Latin-esque about Leeds’ obsessive and uber-passionate fanbase.

So if Zaracho does decide that a move to England is too good to turn down, he should feel right at home in West Yorkshire.
