Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura has suggested to Football London that Carlos Vinicius has impressed him in training.

Vinicius has only had limited opportunities during his time at Tottenham to date, after joining on loan from Benfica in the summer.

The Brazilian forward is yet to make his full Premier League debut, and has played just 12 minutes in the league, with all his starting chances coming in Europe.

Vinicius is yet to get off the mark for his new club, despite having some presentable opportunities in the games he has played.

But Moura has backed the powerful striker to open his goalscoring account sooner rather than later.

“You know that for a number nine it’s always important but he just arrived here. He’s learning about our way to play, the intensity of the Premier League,” the £23 million man (BBC Sport) said.

“It’s not as quick as we wanted but he’s doing well during the week and the training session.

“There’s also the desire to score and sometimes it can be difficult. Very soon he will score but the most important thing is to please the coach and I’m sure Mourinho has the patience with Carlos and he will help us a lot in the future.”

Despite his rather slow start, Vinicius still has shown flashes of quality in a Tottenham shirt.

The 25-year-old claimed two assists on his Spurs debut and he could yet feature this evening.

Tottenham are set to take on Ludogorets in the Europa League, and it would not be a surprise to see Harry Kane given a rest in the contest.
