Gabriel Magalhaes has posted ‘long live my brother’ on Instagram as the Arsenal man sent a message to Yves Bissouma.
The Brighton man is a well-liked figure by Arsenal supporters and someone who is close friends with Gabriel.
Whilst Arsenal have expressed interest in wanting to sign Bissouma and the midfielder seemingly wanting a move to the Emirates, it’s highly unlikely those in the Emirates boardroom will get their man before Tuesday’s deadline.
In truth, it’s a deal that the Gunners should have perhaps pushed for this summer because he would walk into Arsenal’s midfield.
But it seems as though the North London club are struggling to offload their current players, nevermind lifting the spirits of their supporters by signing players like Bissouma.
Someone like Gabriel, who joined the club last summer for £23 million (BBC Sport), is proof that signing a popular player can work because he had a brilliant debut campaign before tailing off towards the end.
The Brazilian is edging closer towards returning from injury this season, and in truth, it’s much needed given the situation Mikel Arteta finds himself in.
Three Premier League games. Three defeats. Nine goals conceded and zero goals scored, it couldn’t have gone any worse for the man in the Arsenal dugout.
And by the time the next transfer window opens, Arteta might not even be in a job, that’s how bad the club’s current situation is.
But someone like Gabriel, who is yet to play this season, might provide Arteta with that solidity, calmness and leadership qualities they crave at the back.
