Milot Rashica’s move to AC Milan has hit the buffers according to Kicker, who claim that Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also made approaches for the Werder Bremen winger.
Six months after Wigan Athletic’s turbo-charged left-back Antonee Robinson missed out on a dream move to the San Siro, it seems that a similar fate has befallen one of the Bundesliga’s most influential forwards.
Reports claim that Ralf Rangnick, the godfather of gegenpressing and one of the most respected talentspotters in European football, had identified the explosive Rashica as one of his top targets at AC Milan with the German expected to become the club’s new head coach.
But, in a U-turn that precisely no one expected, Rangnick will not be performing a trademark restoration job at the seven-time European champions this summer.
Milan have instead rewarded current coach Stefano Pioli with a new contract after a remarkable upturn in form since the Serie A re-start.
And with Rangnick no longer on his way to Milan, it seems that Rashica will not be pulling on that iconic red and black kit any time soon.
Kicker say that the former Vitesse Arnhem dynamo has received offers from Midland neighbours Aston Villa and Wolves, however, with RB Leipzig also big fans on a player whose remarkable individual display on the Bundesliga’s final day saved Bremen from relegation in true Hollywood style.
BILD claimed last week that the 2004 champions would listen to offers of around £23 million, despite a £33 million release clause in Rashica’s contract.
