After Newcastle were taken over by Amanda Staveley and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), things have changed drastically.

The Magpies are no longer being linked to the likes of Kyle Bartley, John Lundstram and Andros Townsend. Oh no.

Now, Newcastle are being associated with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Eden Hazard, as well as a gem who’s been likened to Kaka.

What’s the story?

Well, an interesting report from AS is claiming that Atlético Madrid forward Joao Felix is tempted by a move to Newcastle.

It comes after PIF brought £320bn with them to Tyneside, making players like the £239,114-a-week man realistic targets, which is still hard to believe.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Portugal international is considering a move to St James’ Park, where he’d team up with Eddie Howe.

It would be quite the statement by PIF and Staveley, even more so if they can get a deal done without a Director of Football in place.

Newcastle could have the new Kaka in Joao Felix

Interestingly, the 22-year-old has been likened to Brazilian legend Kaka.

AC Milan's Brazilian midfielder Kaka waves at fans with his trophy in Piazza del Duomo square in Milan 02 December 2007 after being awarded as France Football's Player of the Year winning the prestigious Ballon d'Or award. Born under the name of Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, he succeeds Italy's World Cup winning captain and defender Fabio Cannavaro and comes two years after the last Brazilian winner of the trophy, Barcelona's Ronaldinho. The 25-year-old Kaka notably played a starring role in AC Milan's triumphant Champions League campaign, scoring 10 goals and setting up the winner for Filippo Inzaghi in the final against Liverpool in Milan, 01 December 2007. The comparisons mainly started due to the pair’s similar looks – Felix himself even admitted to watching Kaka closely as a child, as he saw they had similar hairstyles.

However, they also play in similar ways, with Kaka even telling Felix on a video call that he thinks he’s better technically than he ever was.

If Felix becomes even 50% of the player Kaka was, Newcastle could soon have a future Premier League legend on their hands.
