Anthony Georgiou has said an emotional farewell to Tottenham Hotspur on Instagram.
Spurs announced earlier this week that they had sold the 23-year-old to Cypriot outfit AEL Limassol.
Georgiou had been on Tottenham’s books for 11 years but had never made a Premier League appearance for the North Londoners.
And given that regular football is a must at 23, it was time to move on.
But the Hotspur Way academy player has now revealed on social media that he’s forever grateful to the Lilywhites and that he’s looking forward to the next chapter in his career.
Georgiou produced some promising performances at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino during a couple of pre-season campaigns.
But competitive football was always difficult for him to attain, though he did make his Champions League debut for the club under the Argentine – who has since been replaced with Jose Mourinho – during the 2017-18 season.
