West Ham United might have just been given a bit of a transfer boost.
The Evening Standard reported earlier this week that West Ham were keen on signing out-of-favour Chelsea hitman Tammy Abraham.
The 23-year-old was Chelsea’s leading goalscorer in all competitions last season but it does not appear Thomas Tuchel has much use for him.
That theory was evident once again this evening as Tuchel left Abraham out of his squad entirely for the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City [Sky Sports].
And given that the former Aston Villa loanee is fit, it should, in theory, represent a boost for West Ham if they are genuinely interested.
The Standard added this week that the Irons could not afford to pay what the Blues would be looking for.
Then again, West Ham are still fourth in the Premier League despite losing to Newcastle United this afternoon and passage into the Champions League next week would bring with it a lot of financial gain.
