West Ham United full-back Ben Johnson is not happy with a decision from the London club’s hierarchy.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has reported on the contract issue between West Ham and Johnson.

So, what is being reported about West Ham United and Ben Johnson? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Football Transfers, West Ham United full-back Ben Johnson could leave the club.

The report has claimed that West Ham and Johnson are in talks over a new deal.

However, the 23-year-old is “unhappy with the details of the contract proposed by West Ham”.

The report has noted that Johnson could leave the Hammers, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, for a better salary and more playing time.

West Ham are already on the hunt for a new right-back, according to the report.

Ben Johnson should not sign a new West Ham United contract now

In my opinion, Ben Johnson should not rush into signing a new contract with West Ham United.

The defender is out of contract at the Hammers in the summer of 2024, so in a few months’ time, he could have a number of clubs chasing him. After all, there was interest in the youngster in the summer of 2023.

True, the 23-year-old is a West Ham academy graduate, but if the club are not willing to meet his demands, then the full-back should not just accept whatever is offered to him.

Johnson has done well for West Ham when he has got the chance, and I believe that he would be able to succeed at another club in the Premier League.

The English youngster has made 55 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The defender has scored two goals in those games.
