23-year-old named club’s Player of the Season just two years after Bielsa sold him at Leeds

Paudie O’Connor has been named Bradford City’s Player of the Season just two years after leaving Leeds United.

O’Connor was once considered to be one of the brightest talents in Leeds academy, and made four appearances for the club back in the 2017/18 campaign.

At that stage Victor Orta said that O’Connor would play for Leeds for the years ahead, but that promise never came true.

The central defender was shipped out on loan in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season, and then sold to Bradford in the summer.

Bielsa seemingly saw no first-team future for the youngster at Leeds, with other options favoured.

O’Connor has now, at least, gone on to prove that he is a considerable talent when given game time.

The 23-year-old has thrived at Bradford this year, in his second season with the club.

O’Connor scooped Bradford’s Players and Fans Player of the Season awards last night, for recognition for his brilliant form.

Bradford actually haven’t had a particularly strong season in League Two. but O’Connor has been one of the shining lights – and seems to be developing into a fine player away from Elland Road.
