Earlier this summer, Eddie Nketiah signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal despite interest from Leeds and West Ham.
It was said that Victor Orta felt confident about bringing the 23-year-old to Elland Road before he decided to stay in north London on fresh terms worth £100,000-a-week, while West Ham made contact with the striker’s representatives.
Now, Nketiah may be questioning his decision.
What’s the story?
Well, the England Under-21 international watched from the sidelines as Gabriel Jesus tore Leicester apart in today’s 4-2 win over the Foxes.
The Brazil international – who arrived from Manchester City in a deal worth £45m – has immediately benched Nketiah, and he is undoubtedly justifying his place in the side.
Jesus scored two goals in the 4-2 win, while also providing two assists as he was involved heavily in Arsenal’s attacking play.
Before the final whistle, Mikel Arteta did manage to squeeze in some playing time for Nketiah, but only seven minutes of action.
The Arsenal No.14 actually wanted to leave the Emirates Stadium at one point in search of regular playing time, so we highly doubt he will be pleased to see his rival playing so well – from a selfish viewpoint, of course.
Eddie Nketiah should’ve joined Leeds or West Ham
In our view, Nketiah should’ve left Arsenal to become the main man elsewhere.
Leeds are still looking for a new striker – there is interest in Marseille’s Bamba Dieng – although West Ham eventually signed Gianluca Scamacca in a £35.5m deal after Nketiah decided to stay in north London.

We feel the Hale End graduate’s career really could’ve taken off in Yorkshire or east London, as well as at Selhurst Park – Crystal Palace also made contact with his entourage.
Unfortunately for Nketiah, it looks likely that he’ll be spending a lot of time playing second fiddle to Jesus after the South American’s phenomenal performance earlier today.
