The writing appeared to be on the wall for Alfie Whiteman when Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte didn’t include him in the Premier League squad for the second half of the campaign.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who came through the Lilywhites’ academy, was omitted from the selection.

And now the player looks to be on the verge of securing an exit from North London.

Whiteman’s agent revealed on Wednesday that his client was set to join an MLS outfit at some point ‘over the next few days’.

And the Tottenham player himself appears to have confirmed that he’s stateside after uploading an Instagram image from the United States yesterday:

Big apple

The Tottenham player’s representative failed to reveal which outfit Whiteman was set to join.

However, by virtue of the fact that he uploaded a picture of New York, that’s a sizeable indication that he’s either joining one of the Big Apple’s two major clubs.

There’s New York City FC and New York Red Bulls in the MLS and there’s a good chance that the Spurs academy graduate is joining one of them.

The London-born stopper is out of contract at Tottenham this summer [Transfermarkt] but his agent added that this would be a loan agreement.

Either way, it looks very unlikely that Whiteman has a future at Spurs under the Italian manager and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in the MLS.
