Scott Wright has admitted to The Record that Steven Gerrard has given him much more game time at Rangers than he originally expected.
The 23-year-old originally joined Rangers on a pre-contract agreement in January.
But the Gers wound up taking the Scottish winger from Aberdeen earlier than expected and Wright has shone since signing under Gerrard.
Since arriving, Wright made eight appearances across all competitions – including two in the Europa League – and the man himself has admitted that he didn’t realise he was going to play this much.
He said: “I’ve probably played a bit more than I expected to do, I’m delighted with how it has gone so far and it is about chasing down the next target.
“I’ve said before that I want to make an impact on the team whether that is coming off the bench or starting. All I can do is give the manager something to think about.”
With the Premiership already wrapped up, Gerrard could give Wright a full league debut in tonight’s trip to St Johnstone.
But Rangers are still unbeaten and therefore the former Liverpool midfielder will still desperately want an invincible season on his CV.
