Bologna director Giovanni Sartori has said that Arsenal central defender Jakub Kiwior is a “very interesting”, as quoted in Il Corriere dello Sport.
Sartori has said that he looked at potentially signing Kiwior, now at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, when he was the football director at Atalanta.
The Italian director left Atalanta at the end of last season and is now at Bologna.
Sartori has been reflecting on his time at Atalanta, and he has said that he was impressed by what he saw of Kiwior.
The 23-year-old defender joined Arsenal from Serie A club Spezia Calcio in the January transfer window.
According to Football.London, the Gunners paid the Italian club £21 million in transfer fees to secure the services of the Poland international.
Giovanni Sartori on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior
Sartori said, as transcribed by Football Italia: “Thiago is a coach that made me curious.
“I followed him at Spezia because they had three Atalanta players and because of Nzola and Kiwior who I found very interesting.
“I liked Motta’s style, so I sent one of my collaborators to monitor him for a week.”

Exciting
In our view, Giovanni Sartori’s comments on Jakub Kiwior are very encouraging for Arsenal fans.
That Sartori was impressed by the young defender shows just how well he was playing for Spezia before Arsenal snapped him up.
Arsenal are doing well defensively at the moment and do not exactly need the Poland international right now.
However, we believe that from next season, we could get to see Kiwior regularly.
The defender is very young, and we think that the Poland international centre-back will develop and progress under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
