Paul Merson has said that Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min could leave if Harry Kane parts company with Spurs at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal star has said on Sky Sports News (1:10pm, April 29, 2023) that no manager wants to take the Tottenham job now in case Kane leaves the North London club at the end of the season.

The Sky Sports pundit has added that if the 29-year-old striker leaves Tottenham at the end of the season, then his Spurs teammate and South Korea international forward Son could also want to find a new club.

Kane and the £22 million (The Guardian) Son have formed a strong partnership with each other in attack.

Merson said, as transcribed by TBR: “No one takes the Tottenham job if Harry Kane goes. Why would you take the job if Kane goes? it’s a terrible job if Kane goes.

“That’s why I don’t think they have anyone in because they think, ‘What’s the point in trying to sort people out if Kane goes?’

“Take him out of this team and Son will go, ‘Well, I want to go’. I don’t think this is a good job with Harry Kane not there.”

HITC Verdict: Unlikely to happen

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are not going to sell both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the summer transfer window.

No way.

Kane and Son are two of Tottenham’s best attacking players, and there is no way that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will sell both of them in the same window.

And we do not think that Son will want to leave if Kane goes anyway.

After all, just because they play together well and have a good understanding on the pitch does not mean that the South Korean star will want to follow the England international striker out of the club.
