Illan Meslier has been speaking to Sky Sports, and the Leeds glovesman had some kind words to say about Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker.
What’s the story?
Well, speaking ahead of Leeds vs Watford tomorrow, Meslier said: “Ederson is amazing, Alisson is amazing too and of course Manuel Neuer is on the top of the list.”
It’s clear that the 21-year-old has a lot of admiration for the Brazil international, who cost Liverpool £66.8m.
The 28-year-old has made 138 appearances for the Reds, keeping 63 clean sheets while conceding just 111 goals in that time.
Alisson’s efforts have been absolutely pivotal in helping Jürgen Klopp’s side win the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Furthermore, the South American shot-stopper actually helped Liverpool in another way last term, this time without the use of his hands.
With the scoreline at 1-1 in the dying seconds, Alisson leapt to head Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner into the net to secure a 2-1 win over West Brom.
It was a massive goal, as it meant Liverpool secured Champions League football.
Could Leeds prodigy Illan Meslier replace Alisson at Liverpool?

One day, there will be a time where Alisson leaves Anfield, suffers a big dip in form, or simply gets too old.
Seeing as Meslier is seven years younger, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him replace Alisson at Liverpool one day.
The Frenchman is frighteningly good for his age, and looked like he’d been playing in the Premier League for ten years in his debut season last term.

Meslier kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League last season – only Hugo Lloris, Emiliano Martinez, Edouard Mendy and Ederson kept more.
Seeing as goalkeepers usually play into their late thirties, the £22,000-a-week man could well be around for the next 15 years at this level, which is remarkable.
In our view, he’s on course to become the world’s most expensive glovesman one day, passing Kepa Arrizabalaga’s £71m fee.
