Antoine Griezmann has told BBC Sport that Kylian Mbappe has potential to be as good as Lionel Messi, amid links with Liverpool.
It was claimed by ESPN just last month that Mbappe would be keen to play for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side and those rumours must have become even more exciting for fans of the Anfield club after his display for PSG on Tuesday evening.
Mbappe really announced his talents to the global stage, as he blasted in a hat-trick in PSG’s 4-1 win over Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
The Barca defence simply could not handle the speed and skill of Mbappe.
And after the game even Griezmann admitted that his compatriot could become as good as Messi, if he continues on this path.
“We all need to enjoy Kylian (Mbappé), because PSG have a player who will be of the class of Leo (Messi) & Cristiano,” Griezmann said.
Mbappe’s willingness to join Liverpool unfortunately means very little, unless they are able to agree a fee with PSG.
That could be extremely difficult for the Reds, who would surely need to finance any potential deal by selling one of their own leading stars.
Mbappe currently has less than two years remaining on his deal at PSG, and rumours will continue to swirl over his future until he actually puts pen to paper.
