Sheyi Ojo has effectively confirmed that he isn’t going to be staying at Rangers on a long-term basis.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard brought the Liverpool winger to Ibrox on a season-long loan arrangement last summer.
But it was a mixed season for the 22-year-old at Rangers, with Ojo struggling during the second half of the campaign.
Overall, the player scored five goals and set up another seven across 36 games in all competitions, which isn’t a dreadful return, but it looks like it wasn’t enough to see him earn a permanent switch to Glasgow.
On Thursday, Ojo sent an Instagram message to Rangers fans and thanked them for their support over the past 10 months in what looks like a farewell post, meaning he won’t be seeing them next season.
A lot of Rangers supporters will appreciate his efforts, but it’s been obvious for a while that the light Blues needed a better option on the right-hand side of attack.
Since Ianis Hagi joined Gerrard’s side on loan in January, it was ominous for Ojo, who only managed 232 minutes of football in 2020 prior to the season being suspended.
