22-year-old left out of matchday squad amid claims Leeds want to sign him

Todd Cantwell was left out of Norwich’s matchday squad that lost to Derby County on Saturday amid claims that Leeds want to sign the playmaker.

Press Association have reported that talks have been held with Norwich and Leeds for Cantwell to head to Elland Road.

Even though the summer transfer window slams shut on Monday, Premier League clubs and those in the EFL can still conclude business with one another until October 16.

Cantwell has played two Championship games for Norwich this season, failing to score or provide an assist during those games as his side picked up four points – since then they have lost back-to-back matches in his absence.

But as speculation hots up regarding Leeds and Cantwell, he is now being left out and it will be interesting to see how this pans out during these coming days.

Marcelo Bielsa would work wonders with someone like Cantwell and his ability to carry the ball would complement what Leeds already have in the middle of the park.

Cantwell is a very energetic player in the final third, versatile and someone who likes to do something different when on the ball.

Whilst he hasn’t learnt to press in the relentless manner in which Bielsa demands his players to do so, he has got a taste of it at Carrow Road and with Farke, so he can carry a hint of that trait to Yorkshire.
