Premier League giants Arsenal know they face a tough task trying to sign RB Leipzig ace Tyler Adams, according to The Athletic, even though the USA international is a Gunners fan at heart.
An energetic, box-to-box midfielder who can also play at right-back? There’s certainly a touch of the Ainsley Maitland-Niles about the 22-year-old Bundesliga ace.
And with Maitland-Niles looking for a fresh start away from the Emirates – Crystal Palace appear to be leading the chase as things stand – Arsenal are on the look-out for another player who would bring versatility, energy and no shortage of passion to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
But admiring Adams from afar is one thing, signing him is another challenge altogether. A difficult one at that.
Will Adams get his dream move to Arsenal?
And, according to The Athletic, Arsenal technical director Edu Gaspar has a mountain to climb with another four years left on Adams’ contract.
Furthermore, after selling Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano while also bringing in £18 million following Julian Nagelsmann’s move to Bayern Munich – its not as though Leizpig are under pressure to sell.
Arsenal are fully aware a deal for Adams would be difficult, which may explain why they are looking at other options.
Zeki Celik, Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui have all been linked, while the incoming Ben White is also capable of playing at right-back if required.

Interestingly, Adams is a fully paid-up member of the Arsenal fan club and spent his teenage years fawning over Thierry Henry during the Frenchman’s iconic spell at New York Red Bulls.
It seems unlikely he will push for a move, however, having only joined Leipzig in 2019.
“Thierry Henry was a huge one,” Adams, who models his game on Chelsea enforcer N’Golo Kante, told MLS Soccer last year.
“I was an Arsenal fan growing up so when he made the transition to New York it was amazing for me because I was in the academy.
“He was someone I was able to go to the games and watch right in front of my eyes. Thierry was a huge childhood hero of mine. Being able to watch him, the way he scored goals, just how good he was. He’s world class, of course. That was really cool.”
