Life after Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is a horrible thought for most Reds supporters.

Indeed, Klopp will undoubtedly go down as one of the Anfield outfit’s greatest ever managers and the man who is tasked to replace him will have massive shoes to fill.

While we can’t say for sure who will replace Klopp, one man who has constantly been linked with the Liverpool job is Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard would be quite an obvious choice given his links to the club through his playing career, and it seems as though he’s blossoming into quite the manager at Rangers.

Indeed, he looks as though he’s on track to earn the Glasgow outfit their first league title in a decade, and what is even more exciting is what he’s done to the Scottish club’s defence.

Rangers have conceded just three goals in 16 league games this season, but what is even more exciting is how Gerrard’s full-backs join in attacks.

Borna Barisic has five assists in all competitions this term, but the real standout performer has been James Tavernier.

Tavernier is currently the top scorer and the top assister in the SPFL from right-back. Yes, you read that correctly, a right-back is the top scorer and the top assister in the league.

Ok, six of his goals have been from penalty, but he’s still scored four times from other situations and he’s racking up the assists as well.

Tavernier has been given license to be creative at Rangers and it’s working, all the while their defence isn’t suffering from it, and Liverpool have the perfect tools for Gerrard to replicate that at Liverpool.

Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been one of the Premier League’s most creative players over the past two seasons, and if Gerrard comes in and plays him in a similar way to how he uses Tavernier, we could see his stats hit a ridiculous level.

Now, we’re not tipping Trent to get a Golden Boot anytime soon, despite the fact that Tavernier is on course to win one in Scotland, but it’s not unreasonable to suggest that he could hit double figures in terms of goals and assists in all competitions in Gerrard’s system.

When Klopp leaves Liverpool it will be a sad day for everyone associated with the club, but there is reason to be excited about his potential successor.
