Tottenham winger Bryan Gil is hopeful of leaving the north London club for good in January, with Valencia keen on signing the attacker on a permanent deal after the forward’s loan spell last season.

According to AS, the 21-year-old prospect is eager to quit Tottenham after hardly featuring for Antonio Conte’s side this campaign, with Gil making zero starts in all competitions and playing just 73 minutes across six substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League and domestic competitions.

Gil only joined Tottenham last summer in a reported £21m deal from Sevilla that saw Erik Lamela head the other way. However, the transfer has been nothing short of a disaster for Sputs, with the winger failing to adapt to the Premier League and now looking set to leave the club for good after just 18 months.

Valencia signed Gil in January earlier this year on loan where the playmaker, to the shock of nobody, impressed greatly for the Spanish side. And now, the La Liga giants are keen on bringing the 21-year-old back to the Mestalla Stadium on a permanent deal.

Indeed, Conte will seemingly be fine with allowing Gil to return to Spain, especially with Valencia already interested in signing the youngster. However, the deal will once again reflect badly on Tottenham and on both Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici, who have one again made a huge blunder in the market.

Gil is not the first player Tottenham have signed for a big transfer fee only for the deal to go completely south, with Tanguy Ndombele. Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn all following similar narratives to the Spanish youngster.

Valencia signing GIl must put an end to Tottenham’s dodgy transfer dealings

Gil leaving Tottenham for good has been on the table since last January, with the winger clearly a poor fit for the north London side and much better off playing for a club where his qualities will be appreciated. However, this potential transfer must be the biggest eye-opener yet for Spurs over how the conduct their business.

As mentioned, this isn’t and likely won’t be the last time Tottenham have to panic sell a player because they signed them in the first place. And the lessons learn from Gil must be forced into Conte and Fabio Paratici’s way of doing business if they’re to succeed with Spurs in the future.
