The youngster played a part in Everton’s under-23 side winning the Premier League 2 last season, but at 21-years-old the time is right for him to play competitive first team football.
Duffus sent a message on Twitter to supporters.
The youngster is a Republic of Ireland under-21 international, and has scored once in three appearances for them.
He had one year left on his contract at Everton before his move.

Everton sold first choice striker Romelu Lukaku this summer opening up competition for a first team place, and with Duffus still not in line for a look in, his decision to quit the Toffees is a move he simply had to take.
At League One side Oldham he will play under former Premier League midfielder John Sheridan.
