Brooklyn Lyons-Foster was one of two Tottenham players to sign a new deal at Spurs this week – as confirmed by the North London club. Lyons-Foster posted on Instagram after the announcement, with a three-word message.
The 21-year-old talent is yet to make his Tottenham debut at senior level, but he has been on the bench in the Europa Conference League against Pacos de Ferreira and Vitesse Arnhem under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Since Antonio Conte’s arrival, Lyons-Foster has been a regular in first-team Spurs training but has not been on the bench – as of yet. However, his form in the Under-23’s has clearly convinced Spurs and Conte over a new deal.
Like Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Lyons-Foster was out of contract at the end of the season but Spurs have confirmed they have handed the duo a new contract – until June 2023. Lyons-Foster has posted a message on Instagram.
Lyons-Foster signs Tottenham deal: His future lies elswhere
While the versatile defender – who can also play as a holding midfielder – has penned a new deal and extended his Spurs stay, his long-term future is not at the North London club. He has impressed with the 23’s.
But at 21, he needs a loan move. Next season now gives him the chance to go on loan, perhaps to a League One or even a Championship club and show potential suitors what he can do.
Premier League 2 football is good, but it is not senior level. He needs to go on loan in the summer, show everyone what he can do and then, by the summer of 2023, he will have clubs looking to sign him.
