The Watford hitman is a reported transfer target for West Bromwich Albion.
Baggies boss Alan Pardew has made no secret of his desire to bolster his ranks at the Hawthorns this month, with his side currently sitting in 19th position in the Premier League table, three points adrift of safety.
One particular area where Pardew will want to strengthen is his forward department, with his side’s lack of Premier League goals proving to be detrimental to their hopes of climbing the table,
According to the Sun (print edition, page 60, January 28th 2018), West Brom are close to addressing that problem, and are on the verge of signing Hornets hitman Troy Deeney, for a fee thought to be worth in the region of £21 million.
And for that price, in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, West Brom could be about to secure an excellent piece of business.
The 29-year-old forward would be a fantastic focal point for the Baggies, from which they could build their attacks.
Deeney is a strong, powerful target man, who creates space for others with his tireless runs into the channels, and his ability to hold the ball up with aplomb.
The experienced hitman is no slouch in front of goal either. He has scored 102 goals in 295 career league appearances for Watford.
He would surely strike up a formidable partnership with Jay Rodriguez, if he does in fact move to the Hawthorns, and for £21 million, in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, it could be argued that the Baggies are on the verge of securing themselves a bargain.
