Newcastle United celebrate winning the league
Newcastle United are back in the Premier League as champions of the second tier.
Three wins on the bounce saw Rafa Benitez’s side overtake Brighton & Hove Albion on the season’s final day, despite trailing the Seagulls by seven points as recently as three weeks ago.
The Magpies boss will hope to carry that momentum into next season, but with mass changes expected at St James’ Park this summer, it could be easier said than done. By adding players in similar veins of form to themselves, however, a flying start can still be achieved.
Few enjoyed as strong an end to the Championship campaign as Brentford’s Jota, who returned from a frustrating loan spell at Eibar to fire the Bees to tenth in the standings – scoring 12 goals and creating another five in 21 outings.

A left-footed winger who favours cutting in off the right-hand touchline, the Spaniard’s services would perhaps come in handy on Tyneside – especially with the future of Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu uncertain.
Top flight sides Burnley and Swansea City are already being credited with an interest in Jota, although the lure of Newcastle could threaten both clubs’ chances.
And with only a year to run on his Brentford contract – having seen it automatically extended on Monday – the 25-year-old could be a bargain for someone.
Should Newcastle United consider a move for Jota this summer?
