Everton must renew interest in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Olivier Giroud of Arsenal celebrates his sides second gol during The Emirates FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on May 27, 2017 in London, England.

Olivier Giroud was one of Everton’s top targets in the summer, but chose to stick around at Arsenal.

The Toffees were credited with strong interest in the France international, with The Express reporting they would be willing to pay £20 million for his services.

Giroud was unconvinced, and with Everton in 13th place and Arsenal fourth, he may consider his sceptcism justifed, especially with manager Ronald Koeman fired.

But the appointment of Sam Allardyce should cause him to reconsider if Everton renew interest.

Allardyce is a manager who has build his successful teams around a target man, and Giroud’s physical presence fits the bill.

The Frenchman has excellent technique too, and could blossom linking up with Wayne Rooney and Gyfli Sigurdsson.

To date Giroud has been committed to Arsenal, but Arsene Wenger has not replicated that faith.

This season Giroud has precisely zero Premier League starts, making all 11 appearances off the bench, in which he managed to score three times.

Now The Telegraph report Giroud could be snubbed again in favour of Danny Welbeck against Manchester United this weekend, despite an injury to Alexandre Lacazette.

That could be the message Giroud needs that he must move on, and Sam Allardyce must do all he can to bring him to Goodison Park.
