Callum Wilson has mocked West Ham after his move to Newcastle United and claimed that they are a ‘nice team to play against’, as he told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (07/09/20 at 1:15 pm).

Newcastle will host the Hammers in their Premier League opener on Saturday and Wilson was asked about the prospect about coming against the London club as he simply replied ‘it’s West Ham, you know’.

Wilson has a pretty incredible record against the East London side – he has scored seven goals in eight matches, losing only two games against them [transfermarkt].

Despite getting relegated with Bournemouth on the last day of the season, Wilson seemed pretty bullish about coming up against a team he likes playing against.

“It’s West Ham, you know, I like playing against them,” Wilson told Sky Sports. “Well, it’s a nice team to play against.

“Obviously, it gives me confidence going into the game having scored so many goals against them in the past. I have been working hard at Bournemouth during these last few weeks and I am ready to get training with the boys.

“Then it’s the managers decision whether to put me in or not.”

Given the current situation David Moyes’ side find themselves in, the last thing they need is a confident and ready-to-go Newcastle side coming for them.

Whilst Steve Bruce’s transfer wishes have been met, it seems as though the opposite is happening at the London Stadium because they have opted to sell one of their best talents in Grady Diangana, which hasn’t gone down well with the fans.
