Matt O’Riley has found himself linked to Arsenal and Liverpool in recent days.

For a 21-year-old who joined Celtic for only £1.5 million as recently as January, O’Riley is moving up in the world.

Speculation about a potential £20 million transfer to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool [ESPN] is testament to how well he is playing in Glasgow under Ange Postecoglou, with the Denmark Under-21 midfielder grabbing a couple assists in a 9-0 victory on Sunday.

But is O’Riley himself ready for a career in the Premier League?

Well, the player might just have hinted about being content to stay at Celtic for now.

Hours after the hammering of Dundee United, O’Riley posted a photo of himself in a Hoops’ shirt and tagged the club’s official Twitter account, accompanied by a green heart.

There is virtually no chance that O’Riley hasn’t heard about the speculation about the Gunners and Jurgen Klopp being reportedly interested.

And by extension, there is also no way that he’d go out of his way with a public display of affection for Celtic if there was any chance that he’d leave Parkhead before the transfer window shuts.

And honestly, he’s absolutely right to stay.

Clearly he is enjoying his football under Ange Postecoglou and history is littered with examples of players whose eyes grew bigger than their stomach and jumped for a massive transfer as soon as it opened up.

O’Riley isn’t yet the finished article, but he’s developing into a fantastic footballer and if Arsenal or Liverpool are genuinely interested, well that’s just an indication that he’s doing something right and other major clubs will be keen in the future, too.
