Newcastle No.9 Callum Wilson will surely be furious after the Premier League made an announcement earlier on Friday.
The England international was presumably in a good mood after playing a crucial role in Newcastle’s impressive run of six wins from seven Premier League games throughout April.
However – after a Premier League announcement – Callum Wilson will presumably be quite annoyed.
What’s the story?
Well, the £20m Newcastle man has somehow missed out on the Premier League Player of the Month award.
The prize went to Erling Haaland following the Norway international’s run of six goals and two assists in four appearances throughout April.
However, Wilson scored eight goals and set up another last month, so he should be frustrated to miss out on the award.

The 31-year-old kicked off April with a goal in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Manchester United, before scoring twice in a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham.
Wilson then netted in the 6-1 hammering of Tottenham, before hitting a brace in the 4-1 win over Everton and also in the 3-1 victory against Southampton.
Callum Wilson has gone under the radar at Newcastle this season
As many focus on the immense talents of Newcastle’s newest recruits, such as Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman, Wilson’s excellent campaign has flown under the radar.
The Coventry-born striker has now scored 15 goals in just 27 Premier League appearances this season, a rate better than one every two games – only Marcus Rashford, Mohamed Salah, Ivan Toney, Harry Kane and Haaland have netted more.
Wilson has also provided four assists – a return of 19 goal involvements in 27 outings is simply superb.
While Eddie Howe surely has plans to bring more talents like Isak to Tyneside this summer, experienced and reliable options such as Wilson must be kept on board – he is an invaluable member of the squad.
