Liverpool and Everton were both rejected by Kevin Schade before he decided to join Brentford in a £20m deal.

NTV revealed that the German had snubbed Liverpool, a decision he later explained in more detail when speaking to Brentford’s official website.

Schade said: “Brentford wanted me. They really wanted me. It’s a good step. It’s a Premier League club who are doing really well at the moment. To go to somewhere like Liverpool is not good for me because I would not play.’

It was the Guardian who revealed that Everton wanted to sign the 21-year-old from SC Freiburg before he rejected the Toffees as well.

Now, Schade has taken a huge leap in his career.

What’s the story?

Well, Schade has now received his first call-up for Germany as a result of his excellent form.

The Brentford No.9 has only provided one assist in seven Premier League appearances so far since his January move to England – while also failing to score – but his overall displays have been so impressive, Hansi Flick has decided to hand him an opportunity.

It comes amid a time where Germany are keen to hand more chances to their young prospects, with Thomas Müller – one of the best forwards of the past decade – missing out on a place in the squad as a result.

Schade will potentially make his debut for Germany as they prepare to take on Peru and Belgium in friendlies on Saturday 25th March and Tuesday 28th March respectively.

Schade was right to reject Liverpool & Everton

By the sounds of it, Schade has his head firmly screwed on – he made a wise decision to reject Liverpool and Everton.

As the German told Brentford’s official website, he probably wouldn’t have played much at Anfield, as Jürgen Klopp already boasts the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino in his attacking department.

At Everton, Schade presumably would have been a regular starter, although the Toffees are relegation battlers nowadays, and a move to Brentford represents a smarter step.

Hopefully, the German wonderkid can continue his rapid rise and make a name for himself in the Premier League.
