Lazar Markovic impressed for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
When Liverpool signed Lazar Markovic from Benfica in the summer for a reported fee of £20million, more than a few eyebrows were raised, and they got a little bit higher when the young Serbian put in some sub-par performances in his early months at the club.
But that was always to be expected of a 20-year-old at a new club in a new country, and more recently the winger has shown exactly what he is capable of.
Against Tottenham Hotspur, Markovic opened the scoring and gave a fine display throughout, suggesting he has now well and truly settled at Anfield.
He now has three goals in 26 appearances but more importantly he has two in his last four league outings.
| Passing Accuracy | Goals | Total Att Assist | On Target Shooting Accuracy | Total Contest | Duel Won | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lazar Markovic | 92% | 1 | 1 | 50% | 2 | 4 | 79 |
As you can see from the table above, Markovic had an impressive passing accuracy of 92 per cent against Tottenham, while alongside his goal he played one key pass, went on two dribbles and won four duels.
He also had a 50 per cent shooting accuracy and that bodes well for the future, with the player tied to the club until 2019 and destined to be a bona fide star long before then.
It took some time, but now Liverpool’s big-money arrival is starting to justify his hefty price-tag; just imagine how good he will be when he has a full season under his belt.
