Things went from bad to worse for one Liverpool loanee on Wednesday night.
Marko Grujic left Anfield last summer to join Porto on a season-long loan.
The Serbian midfielder was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool manager five years ago and had enjoyed a couple of decent loan spells with Hertha Berlin in recent years.
Grujic joined the Portuguese side after nobody budged over his £20 million price-tag, but it’s been a difficult season.
The 24-year-old has only started three league games for his temporary club and suffered a new low in a cup defeat by Braga on Wednesday.
Grujic earned a rare chance to impress from the start after making the first XI, but was subbed off after 23 minutes after Porto conceded twice inside the first 14 minutes – and then again shortly after the Liverpool man left the field.
Confidence is such a huge thing for any footballer and given his lack of starts in the league, Grujic might’ve been struggling even before last night’s humiliation and it makes you wonder how – and when – he’ll bounce back from this.
