Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing the Liverpool hitman.

According to a report from the Telegraph, Crystal Palace are prepared to pay £20 million in order to bring Liverpool striker Danny Ings to Selhurst Park this summer, but would the Eagles be overpaying for the 26-year-old?

Ings moved to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer of 2015, after his contract with Burnley expired, but he has desperately failed to establish himself on Merseyside.

Injuries have undoubtedly played their part in his struggles, but his record of just six Premier League starts in three years is quite simply not good enough.

And spending £20 million on the Liverpool forward would represent a massive risk for Crystal Palace.

Roy Hodgson will be desperate to add more firepower to his ranks this summer, with more competition required for Christian Benteke, and whilst Ings would undoubtedly be a decent squad player, it is unlikely that he would make a huge impact on the Eagles’ first-team.

£20 million is a serious amount of money for a club like Palace to lay out on one player, in spite of today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, and Hodgson might just be better served in focusing his attention elsewhere.

Ings is a decent player, but with his injury record, £20 million for his services is rather extortionate to say the least.
