Things look a little brighter for Christian Eriksen following his Tottenham Hotspur exit.
The long-serving Dane called time on his six-and-a-half year spell in North London this past January to join Inter Milan on a permanent basis.
But early on it wasn’t looking like the grass was as green, as the former Tottenham playmaker managed only six domestic appearances – and hadn’t scored or set up a goal in any of them.
But that changed in bizarre circumstances last night.
Eriksen opened the scoring for Inter in their Coppa Italia trip to Napoli after only two minutes – and from a corner.
The former Ajax maestro whipped in a cross from a dead-ball situation and it deceived Napoli star David Napoli before trickling into the net.
Here’s how Tottenham fans reacted to the freak goal on Twitter:
Freak goal or not, it still looks like a great decision by Tottenham to sell him.
Yes, Jose Mourinho’s side are eighth in the Premier League, but they wouldn’t be doing much better with Eriksen in the first XI.
If we’re honest, his heart hadn’t been in it at Spurs for quite a while and his public declaration that he wanted to leave last summer is indicative of that.
Oh, and the club got £20 million for him which, for someone with six months left on his contract, is blinding business.
