If Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on Jerome Boateng, Jose Mourinho might be interested in the player’s latest comments.
Earlier this year, Bleacher Report claimed that Mourinho wanted to bring the veteran German defender to North London.
Nothing happened on that front in January but in March it was reported by Bild that Bayern Munich had put the 31-year-old – who earns £200,000 per week in Bavaria [Sportekz] – up for sale in the summer.
There hasn’t been much speculation about him joining Tottenham since, though Arsenal have been linked this summer.
But the former Manchester City stalwart has revealed that he’s absolutely up for a return to the Premier League.
He said via Football Daily: “I’m definitely down for it, it’s one of my favourite leagues, but I don’t know for the future. You never know… it’s not that I would never play there again, absolutely not.”
It just so happens that Tottenham need a few centre-backs this summer.
It was revealed a few days ago that Jan Vertonghen would definitely be leaving after his contract expired, while Juan Foyth is being linked with a move to Leeds United.
If Foyth follows Vertonghen out the door at Spurs, Mourinho would only have Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld as experienced, established options for that role.
