Charlie Adam has said that Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire was right not to join David Moyes’s West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool midfielder has said on BBC Radio 5 Live that Harry Maguire was right to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place in the team instead of moving to West Ham United.
West Ham United tried to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United
West Ham, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, were strongly linked with the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) England international central defender.
Sky Sports reported on August 18 that West Ham had agreed a £30 million deal with Manchester United for Maguire.

The Guardian reported on August 15 that the defender had actually agreed personal terms with the Hammers.
However, the England international reportedly could not agree on a payoff with Manchester United and did not make the move to London Stadium in the end.
Charlie Adam verdict on Harry Maguire
Adam said: “I think Harry Maguire could have gone to West Ham, I think McTominay could have done to West Ham.
“But ultimately if it is not right for the player, then they are not going to go, are they?
“If they feel that they are good enough to get back into the team or the squad, then obviously they are not going to go.
“They are not just going to get pushed through the door because your manager says, ‘Well, you can go’.
“You fight for your place. It’s easy just to give up.”
We believe that Harry Maguire should have seriously considered a move to West Ham United in the summer transfer window, perhaps on a loan deal.
The 30-year-old is unlikely to get much playing time under Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
It is clear that Ten Hag does not think that Maguire is good enough to play week in and week out.
Maguire has played only 23 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
The former Leicester City star made eight starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils last season.
