
Arsenal prospect George Lewis has admitted to VG that he was shocked when he first found out that the Gunners wanted to sign him.
Lewis was a fairly unknown quantity when he joined Arsenal from the third tier of Norwegian football in the summer.
The 20-year-old had barely made an impact in Norway, so for Arsenal to be taking an interest was a surprise even for him.
But the youngster feels that he has handled the step up in class well since moving to the Emirates Stadium.
“Of course I was surprised when I first heard about the interest, I think everyone had been,” Lewis said. “It has been a big leap in terms of level, but I feel I have handled it well. It was a challenge that I felt ready to take on.”
Lewis has indeed made a bright start for Arsenal’s development side.

He has netted in a game against Tottenham Hotspur, and also scored in the EFL Trophy against Ipswich Town.
Lewis’s only action at Arsenal so far has come with their development side, but the left-winger will hope that he can make an impact in the first-team in future years.
Mikel Arteta has already shown a willingness to promote the club’s youngsters, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock all in and around the first-team squad.
