Tottenham Hotspur supporters have probably forgotten all about Troy Parrott.
The 20-year-old Irish striker featured under Mauricio Pochettino in the final six months of the Argentine’s reign in North London, and made a couple of appearances under Jose Mourinho.
But since then, Parrott has been nowhere near Tottenham’s senior squad and has had three different loan spells since then.
For a striker compared to Harry Kane, his tempoary spells in the lower leagues are never a promising sign.
However, Parrott might be at the beginning of a purple patch which results in his stock rising again.
The Irishman scored twice on Tuesday night to help MK Dons beat Cheltenham Town 3-1 in League One.
Parrott now has five League One goals for the Dons this season and he’ll be hoping that this double is the start of something exciting.
Despite not developing as hoped in recent years, the Lilywhites remain firmly behind Parrott.
In October, 90 Min reported that Tottenham’s belief in the youngster was still ‘sky high’ and that he could well follow in ‘Kane’s footsteps’ yet.
Unfair
To be honest, the Kane comparisons have always been horrendously unfair.
When his career is over, the 28-year-old might be remembered as the Premier League’s greatest-ever goalscorer and if that’s the standard for Parrott, well failure is inevitable.
However, he clearly remains a very exciting young attacking talent in his own right and it’ll be fascinating to see if his brace on Tuesday can open the floodgates for him.
