Tottenham Hotspur offloaded a number of extremely high-profile players in January.
Whether it be on permanent deals or loans, Tottenham cleared house.
Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele – their club-record signing at £63 million – all departed North London toward the end of the January transfer window.
With that in mind, Lilywhites supporters might’ve missed the news that Kion Etete was sent out on loan to Cheltenham Town.
However, the towering striker could return to North London this summer a much better player.
Etete has been impressing with the League One outfit since joining in January and played a major role in their stunning draw at the weekend.
Cheltenham drew 5-5 away to Wycombe Wanderers and the big Spurs youngster – who stands at 6’6 in height [The Sun], making him taller than a certain Erling Haaland – scored one and set up another.
What’s interesting is the timing.
The 20-year-old got Town back into the game with an assist for Alfie May – who wound up scoring four of the five goals – that made it 3-2, before Etete fired his loan club back on level terms.
Helping Cheltenham come from 3-1 down to parity within the space of 20 second-half minutes illustrates that Etete can be a game-changer and no doubt that’ll serve him well.
At 20 years old, it remains to be seen how much of a long-term career he has at Tottenham, but his performance this past Saturday – along with his height – makes him a fascinating forward and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares for the remainder of the campaign.
