This time last year was a pretty low point for Leeds United’s Jordan Stevens.

He was in the middle of a six-week ban of all football-related activity at Thorp Arch – including training – for breaches relating to gambling on matches.

But fast forward 12 months and things are starting to look up for the Leeds winger.

The 20-year-old secured a season-long loan move to League One side Swindon Town earlier this week – and the youngster went and scored on his debut.

Richie Wellens’s side beat Burton Albion 4-2 on Saturday and it was Stevens who opened the scoring after only seven minutes, bursting past his marker before driving one home from an angle.

As far as first impressions go, they don’t get much better than that for Stevens and it’ll be fascinating to observe his progress over the course of the season.

The player is already known to Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, who has given him five senior appearances in the Championship, so the Argentine and Victor Orta, their Director of Football, will no doubt watch on with interest over the next nine months or so.
