Back in January, Celtic made the tough decision to part with one of their brightest talents in Jeremie Frimpong.
The 20-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £11.5m, after making 51 appearances for Celtic across a two-year stay in Glasgow.
Now, after seven games of the 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign, he is among the best eleven players across Europe – according to WhoScored.
How is Jeremie Frimpong doing after Celtic exit?
The Dutchman used the second half of last season to settle in and acclimatise after his January move, but he’s now on fire in Germany.
Frimpong has racked up five assists in ten appearances across all competitions so far this season, earning him a 8.2 rating on WhoScored.
Statistically speaking, it makes him the best-performing right-back across Europe’s top five leagues so far in 2021/22.

Frimpong finds himself alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah and Karim Benzema in WhoScored’s XI – that isn’t bad company, to say the least.
His efforts have also helped Bayer Leverkusen to second in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich of course.
Ange Postecoglou would’ve loved Jeremie Frimpong
Josip Juranovic may have enjoyed a decent start to life at Celtic Park, although Ange Postecoglou surely would’ve loved to have Frimpong.
The former Manchester City wonderkid is performing at an exceptional level right now, and is surely worth over double that £11.5m fee.

If only the Bhoys could’ve kept hold of him going into the summer.
Having said that, without the £11.5m, Postecoglou may not have been able to sign the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Joe Hart and Juranovic.
Let’s just hope a substantial sell-on clause was included in the deal between Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen…
