Ian Wright has claimed that a player like Aston Villa striker Danny Ings would thrive at Brighton and Hove Albion and score ’20 goals’ because they are ‘so well-coached’ by Graham Potter, as he told his own podcast.
Whilst Steven Gerrard watched his Villa side suffer an embarrassing defeat to Bournemouth over the weekend, Brighton recorded a deserved win at Manchester United and Wright thinks they will do that to ‘a lot more teams’ this season.
It has been one year since Villa signed Ings from Southampton for £25 million (Sky Sports) when the Midlands club, from out of the blue, surprised everyone by adding him to their ranks.

Despite such drama and surprise coming after his transfer, the 30-year-old has struggled in the colours of Claret & Blue, scoring seven goals from his 32 matches.
However, given Brighton’s bright start to the new Premier League season, Arsenal legend Wright thinks a player like Ings would be brilliant for Potter’s men.
“I can’t remember watching Brighton, since Graham Potter has been there and say ‘oh, they don’t look right today, it’s not happening'” said Wright.
“They are so well-drilled and well-coached, then they will do that (beating Man United) to a lot more teams. The only problem holding Brighton back is the chances that they miss.
“I always said that if they had a Danny Ings, that type of a striker, if they had a Danny Ings, if that kind of player goes to Brighton, then they get 20 goals. They get 20 goals, no question because of how that team is coached.”

NOT GOOD ENOUGH OR NOT ENOUGH CHANCES CREATED?
It has to be questioned why Ings has struggled so much since his move from Southampton because he has all the experience in the world and a proven record in England’s top flight.
The main issue for Villa throughout last season was their lack of ability to create consistent chances and big chances for their players.
Added with Steven Gerrard replacing Dean Smith, and completely changing the system, there has been no consistency to their game.
All of that hasn’t helped anyone’s cause at the club. Don’t get it wrong, Ings wasn’t good enough during that defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday and deserved to be hooked after the hour mark.
But once again, everything behind him was abject, like it was last season, so you feel sorry for the forward players and Ollie Wakins is also part of that.
