Back in July, Eurosport revealed that Tottenham had lodged an enquiry over the availably of VfL Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.

In fact, it was even said by Sky Germany that Fabio Paratici – Tottenham’s Director of Football – viewed the Frenchman as a dream signing.

Now, we’re not sure if the Italian will feel the same way.

What’s the story?

Well, ever since VfL Wolfsburg rejected Tottenham’s advances, their 21-year-old centre-back has endured a tough season.

Lacroix has already received two red cards in just 11 Bundesliga appearances, which is very poor in all honesty.

Additionally, he’s been a calamity inside his own penalty box.

Lacroix has also conceded three penalties in the Bundesliga this season.

As things stand, VfL Wolfsburg sit eighth in the Bundesliga.

Of course, Lacroix is still a young player, and will make plenty of mistakes as he continues to learn his trade.

However, for the £26m asking price, Spurs surely won’t be in any mood to gloss over these frequent errors.

Will Tottenham revisit Maxence Lacroix interest?

In our view, we’d be surprised if Paratici was still interested in the towering centre-back.

In the end, Spurs managed to secure a £42.5m deal for Cristian Romero, who was named Defender of the Year in Serie A last season.

The Argentine has looked assured and impressive since his move from Atalanta, although he is currently sidelined after suffering an injury.

Nevertheless, Romero’s arrival makes the need for another centre-back less pressing.

If Antonio Conte does decide to sign another, we highly doubt it will be Lacroix due to his concerning form so far this season.
