Heung-Min Son made an outstanding return to Premier League football with Tottenham Hotspur, as the North Londoners hammered Stoke City 4-0 at the Bet 365 Stadium.

The South Korean was one of a number of players who had been linked with a White Hart Lane exit this summer, having been in and out of the starting eleven during his first season at the club.

Son’s cause wasn’t helped this summer by his commitment to Olympic football with his country this summer, meaning he missed the first couple of matches of the season, and could only make it on the bench for the match with Liverpool.

But he sent out a timely reminder to both his manager and the Tottenham supporters with a superb attacking performance on the left, and at times right hand side, in what was his first appearance of the season.

Below are his attacking statistics from the game:

Whoever he was up against, Son looked a massive threat, scoring first with a deft left footed volley after an excellent piece of play by Christian Eriksen, and then whipping a stunning shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

To cap it all, the former Bayer Leverkusen man arguably had something even more important to contribute, setting up Harry Kane to get on the scoresheet after the England international’s run of matches without a goal.

One thing is for sure, with a performance like this, the 24-year-old may have just played himself back into the forefront of Pochettino’s thoughts. The right time to do it with Spurs having signed to expensive attacking midfielders on deadline day.
