Cesc Fabregas ended up with an assist against Manchester United, but the Chelsea midfielder was not at his best at Old Trafford in the Premier League clash.
Cesc Fabregas has been arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League so far this season, but against Manchester United he was largely disappointing.
The 27-year-old Spain international headed into the league clash against Old Trafford on Sunday in top form, but his display was underwhelming.
Fabregas did float in the corner that Didier Drogba headed home in the opening minutes of the second half, but other than that the former Arsenal captain failed to make anything of note.
| Chances Created Open Play | Key Passes | Total Dribbles | Dribbles Won | Total Pass | Accurate Pass | Total Tackles | Tackles Won | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cesc Fàbregas | 0 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 43 | 36 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 90 |
As stats above show, Fabregas did not create a single chance from open play and played just two key passes.
However, there were areas in which the former Barcelona star excelled. He won two of the dribbles he attempted and won three of the four tackles he made.
Initially playing as a deep-lying midfielder, Fabregas struggled to get into the game. He came alive only after he was pushed further forward.
Fabregas had arguably the worst game of his Chelsea career on Sunday, but one would expect him to emerge stronger because of it.
