Joe Hart has effectively just won a league title, less than a year after quitting Tottenham Hotspur.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper helped Celtic to a 4-1 victory over Hearts in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.
Hart, who joined the Hoops for £1 million from Tottenham last summer, sent a message on Instagram after the victory.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are now nine points ahead of Rangers, who have three Premiership games remaining.
In other words, the title is going back to Parkhead.
Hart, who only spent one season at Spurs before being sold by Nuno Espirito Santo, has played a massive role in the Bhoys’ imminent success.
The England international has started 33 Premiership outings for Celtic this season and the stability and leadership he has brought to Glasgow has been a major factor behind the success, which included a League Cup title earlier in the campaign.
Ironically, Tottenham arguably don’t have a better second-in-command than Hart.
Nuno and Fabio Paratici brought Pierluigi Gollini to North London last summer as Hart’s replacement, but you could definitely argue that the Italian isn’t much of an upgrade on the former Manchester City keeper and even Antonio Conte is reported to not want him back next season.
Given his age, Hart was never a long-term option as Tottenham’s number one and he didn’t even make a Premier League appearance for the Lilywhites, with Hugo Lloris an ever-present figure.
But Hart remains a good goalkeeper and this imminent title is reflective of that.
